ALPES d'OC Morinesio: mythical Maira Valley

Imagine a small alpine village where there are no cars, a mosaic of historic houses in rough stone and larch renovated according to tradition, a time suspended between disarming silences and soft sounds of spontaneous harmony and natural balance.

For all those who love nature-tourism, in an environment unique for its authenticity, naturalness and purity. Where nothing creates environmental impact or disfigures the natural landscape because everything is harmony; where there are no ski facilities at all, because the winter sports disciplines are ski mountaineering, cross-country skiing, snowshoe trekking, and climbing icefalls; there is only one area with such peculiarities: it is the Maira Valley.

The Alpes d'OC Morinesio tourist centre consists of 5 flats and 3 autonomous and independent rooms with their own bathroom and panoramic balcony. In total, Alpes d'OC Morinesio can accommodate up to 26 guests for overnight stays and up to 50 guests (between indoor and outdoor accommodation) for catering.

All rooms are finely furnished and charming. The flats consist of a kitchen-living room, double bedroom, ante-bathroom, bathroom, large balconies, room for communal services and storage, green area, small equipped garden.

The bedrooms, autonomous and independent, are composed of a double bed or twin beds placed side by side, private bathroom with window directly on the outside and vasists, panoramic balcony with southern exposure.

The bedrooms and one flat are dedicated to the flowers of the surrounding mountains: ANEMONE, BUCANEVE, REGINA DELLE ALPI, RODODODENDRO. A flower corresponding to the name of the room itself is frescoed on one wall of the room.

The flats bear feminine names - except for one, PANORAMA, because from its large windows the view of the Alps is truly panoramic - precisely because of their grace, charm, style and furnishings, typically Occitan-Provençal Alpine.

The flats are: ISABELLE, ANNALISA, PANORAMA, QUEEN OF THE ALPS, ISOTTA. ISOTTA will be operational from 1 May 2024, on completion of the extensive renovation work on the rustico in question. ISOTTA consists of a kitchen-living room, also equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine, a breathtaking view of the Cottian Alps, two very panoramic south-facing balconies, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and the dehor. ISOTTA is a unique and very classy flat, also in its furnishings. Both the flats and the rooms are of a decidedly high standard; furnished to a very high standard in the Occitan-Provençal Alpine style typical of this area.

The agriturismo offers typical local and Piedmontese cuisine, with dishes prepared using products from the farm and other local farms. The environment is familiar, joyful, convivial, polite, clean and honest. The owners and staff are very attentive to guests' needs, have a high cultural level, extrovert and flexible.

Alpes d'OC cultivates small mountain fruits organically, including in particular the organic blackcurrant, from whose berries Alpes d'OC directly produces Cassis, an extraordinary liqueur in terms of taste, colour, temperament and properties. The blackcurrant berries are patiently hand-picked and selected before being transformed into liqueur using an artisanal method and an ancient monastic recipe. Cassis Alpes d'OC S - Too good!

Alpes d'OC Morinesio is a high-mountain farmhouse offering hospitality, well-being and sharing the environment and the spirit of the mountains in fully-equipped flats, self-contained and independent rooms with bathroom and sunny balconies, and high quality and genuine food.

The mountain of great silences, the scents and colours of flowers, wild animals, genuine images, authenticity and purity of the environment, culture, arts and traditions.

It is geographically strategic for enjoying the environment to the full, for practising trekking and alpine excursions, road biking, mountain biking, Occitan routes, and trans-valleys by motorbike. Paved alpine passes connect it at 2400 m asl with the other valleys to the north and south of the Maira Valley. The old military roads, now trekking and mountain bike trails, represent exceptional natural itineraries on dirt roads.

Alpes d'OC Morinesio is the starting point for the most demanding hikes over 3000 m asl, but also for less demanding walks in the woods and along the ancient paths that connect the historic hamlets. It is a transit and resting place for the Occitan trails and other multi-day trekking routes and circuits, organised and coordinated with other accommodation facilities in the area.
